Nursery Assistant Level 3

£12.80 per hour.

To provide highquality care, education and learning opportunities in a safe, stimulating, and inclusive environment. As a Level 3 Nursery Practitioner, you will act as a key person to a small group of children, contribute to planning and assessment in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), and work collaboratively with the nursery team to support every child to reach their full potential.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

Child Development & EYFS Practice

Deliver high-quality learning experiences in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), ensuring planning is completed, implemented and evaluated effectively.
Provide stimulating, ageappropriate and challenging activities that reflect children's interests and developmental needs.
Promote all areas of learning—indoors and outdoors—supporting holistic development.
Maintain accurate developmental records, learning journals and observations for key children.
Support children with SEND and adapt practice to meet individual needs.


Key Person Responsibilities

Act as a key person for a small group of children, building strong relationships with families.
Share regular updates on children’s progress with parents/carers and attend Parent Evenings (minimum three per year).
Respect confidentiality and ensure sensitive handling of information.


Health, Safety & Safeguarding

Safeguard children at all times and follow all safeguarding policies and procedures.
Supervise children to ensure a safe environment and protect them from harmful situations.
Be constantly aware of health and safety procedures, reporting concerns promptly.
Maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness for children, resources and the environment.
Support children during meal and snack times, including preparation and supervision.
Follow all nursery policies, including behaviour management, food safety, confidentiality and code of conduct.


Teamwork & Professional Standards

Work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver a welcoming and inclusive environment.
Support new staff and role-model good professional practice.
Contribute to team meetings, supervisions and appraisals.
Attend training, conferences and CPD opportunities to maintain up-to-date knowledge of good practice.
To work in line with the Nursery’s Code of Conduct and policies
Promote positive relationships with children, parents, colleagues and visitors.
Reflect the multicultural nature of the community in activities, resources and interactions.


Additional Responsibilities

Take responsibility for the care, use and maintenance of resources in your room.
Contribute to planning, setting up and clearing away activities.
Undertake cleaning duties as required to maintain hygiene standards.
Carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by the Nursery Manager or Deputy.


Person Specification

Essential

Level 3 Early Years Qualification.
Strong understanding of the EYFS and early childhood development.
Experience working with children in a nursery or childcare environment.
Ability to identify children’s needs and plan appropriate learning opportunities.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work flexibly as part of a team.
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Friendly, enthusiastic and professional approach.
Respect for confidentiality.
Smart, professional appearance.
Desirable

Experience supporting children with SEND.
Paediatric First Aid qualification.
Knowledge of safeguarding best practice and statutory requirements.
